Aesthetics and Functionality — Optimum Facade Fixing with Eurotec

Aesthetics and Functionality — Optimum Facade Fixing with Eurotec

The facade plays a central role in the building. On the one hand, it should be aesthetically pleasing and, on the other, it should meet all functional requirements. This includes aspects such as indoor climate, protection of the building fabric against moisture and the choice of facade material. For this reason, the design of the facade should be carefully considered before construction begins.

The right choice of facade has an impact on the indoor environment. A well-designed facade will ensure that there are no major temperature changes inside the building due to weather conditions. In warmer climates, additional insulation may not be necessary. In addition, a well-designed facade can be effective in reducing noise from outside and shielding background noise inside the building.

Rear ventilated facades

The ventilated rain screen facade (VHF) is a versatile type of facade with many customization options, allowing you to design your facade as you wish. With VHF, a substructure is attached to the exterior wall of the building. The most used materials for the substructure are roof battens or special aluminium profiles designed for this application. This independent fixing creates a free space between the cladding and the insulation/wall, which is the basis for the rear ventilation of the facade. A facade is ventilated if certain criteria for air circulation are met. A cavity behind the cladding is not sufficient, but it must be ensured that air can get behind the cladding through openings at the top or bottom of the cladding and through joints in the cladding.

3D façade spacer

For this application, Eurotec offers the 3D façade spacer, which prolongs the life of the façade as the individual components minimize the weathering process thanks to innovative decoupling. The spacer is attached to the cladding and then screwed to the substructure. The resulting air circulation between the substructure and the cladding ensures optimum ventilation. The special geometry of the spacer allows for efficient water drainage. The four holes in the spacer also provide flexible fixing options to the façade.

Hobotec screw

The ETA-certified Hobotec screw from Eurotec is suitable for fixing the spacer. The screw has a drill point and milling ribs that make it easier to countersink into different types of wood, ensuring a clean fit with high pull-out values.

Terrassotec ornamental head and Façade fixing screw ZK

The Terrassotec ZK or Eurotec Façade fixing screw ZK is suitable for fixing the façade. 3D façade spacer can be easily fixed with the ZK cladding screw made of hardened stainless steel. The screw has a scraper groove on the screw tip, milling ribs on the screw head and a decorative head. The Terrassotec ZK can be used in service classes 1 to 3.
